Winter, Kloman, Moter & Repp, S.C. was founded in 1968 under the original name of Huss & Associates, S.C. Founder Jerry Huss had been working as a CPA for what was then Wisconsin's largest local CPA firm. As that firm transformed into Arthur Young & Company in 1968 (now known as Ernst & Young), Jerry ventured out on his own and opened Huss & Associates in Brookfield.

In 1974, Huss & Associates acquired the CPA practice of a prominent Wauwatosa attorney, moved its office to Wauwatosa, and added CPA Jack Winter to its staff. Jim Repp and Lee Moter both joined the group in 1975, followed by Tom Kloman in 1976. Jack, Jim, Lee and Tom all had previous experience with national accounting firms formerly known as the "Big 8."

The firm continued to grow, built on the philosophy that in order to succeed you have to get to know your community and truly care about your clients. A second office – Oconomowoc – was added in 1978 with newcomer Dan Gotter leading the effort. Jack Winter, Tom Kloman, Lee Moter and Jim Repp purchased the firm in 1979 and changed the name to Winter, Kloman, Moter & Repp, S.C. in 1980.

Dan Gotter became a partner in 1984. Outgrowing its current offices, the Wauwatosa office relocated to Elm Grove in 1985 and the Oconomowoc office moved to a larger building in downtown Oconomowoc in 1986.

The 1987 acquisition of CPA firm Jones & Zaffrann added two partners and key members to the team, Wes Jones and Jim Zaffrann. That same year, future partners Jim Holsen, Liz Kaiser and Paul Sehmer also joined the firm. In 1988, future partners Mark Potts and Curt Disrud came on board.

In 1990, Tom Kloman, a founding partner in the firm, announced his early retirement. Lee Moter, another of the firm’s founders, decided to retire from public accounting in 1994. Future partners Ken Kasbohm and Paul Senger joined the firm in 1996 and 1997, respectively.

Focused on meeting our clients’ needs, we established WKMR Financial Group, LLC in 1999 to provide registered investment advisory services to our clients. Then, in 2000, WKMR Technology Solutions, LLC was created to help our clients with their information technology needs.

By 2005, we successfully acquired a third office in Watertown. In March of 2006, we broke ground in Oconomowoc for our new office building and opened the doors later that year. In 2007, after 22 years in Elm Grove, our office was moved to Brookfield. Most recently, in 2010, we moved our Watertown office to a newly remodeled facility.

With 37 local CPAs, Winter, Kloman, Moter & Repp, S.C. is the 10th largest Milwaukee area accounting firm and the 3rd largest Wisconsin-based accounting firm.1

Over the years, Winter, Kloman, Moter & Repp, S.C. has seen change not only in the tax laws, but in the accounting industry as a whole. But one thing remains the same – our commitment to our clients and the desire to provide exceptional service to each and every one of the businesses, families and individuals we serve.
